Is called “Coliseum” the latest album by the artist from Bovalino Bruno Panuzzopresented last week at New Yorkas part of a short US tour organized to promote the album which includes an anthology of the most famous songs of the Italian singing tradition plus some recent unreleased songs, composed by the same Locride singer-songwriter and produced by Franco Poggiali in Florence.
In the live performances given in the immense American city, Panuzzo also tried his hand at performing American songs, establishing an immediate feeling with the audience present, who appreciated the bridge between the Italian melody and the Stars and Stripes rhythms which are influenced by the related musical influences at Blue’s. The entire repertoire highlighted the original vocal timbre of Bruno Panuzzo, at times persuasive, delicate and profound, but suddenly capable of rising, radically changing in an impetuous manner, with the artist’s voice that “changes course” and migrates towards powerful dynamics, with a harsher flavour.
And the public of the “Big Apple” appreciated it.
Even that of some of the most iconic places, such as the historic one Rizzoli bookshopa point of reference for Italian culture in New York for sixty years, and the inevitable “Central Park“, where, on the site called “Strawberry Fields Memorial” (in homage to the famous Beatles song), Panuzzo performed together with some local artists, continuing the activity of rooting the values of the Liverpool Four in Italy and around the world, thanks to the collaboration with the Official Beatles Fab Club “Pepperland ” and which reached the Siderno stage in October with the naming of the garden of the municipal library after John Lennon.
An almost sidereal distance between Siderno and New York, which shortened during the execution of “Imagine” curated by Bruno Panuzzo in Central Park, thanks to the message of universal love inherent in the song.
The tale of Bruno Panuzzo’s artistic journey, therefore, continues. Started in the 90s, starting from the Calabrian province with little means but a lot of passion, along the way it also touched some European capitals, making it a testimonial of those typical values of the province, and of the Calabrian one in particular, with humility and politeness typical of those who know how to tell stories of real life in a profound and sensitive way.
