While he was in civilian clothes, a municipal police officer was assaulted, insulted and beaten on a parking lot Saint Etienne (Loire) Friday May 21, 2021 by a man who asked him for a cigarette.
But the policeman did not have one, which infuriated his interlocutor, reports France Blue Saint-Etienne Loire.
He would have called him a “dirty cop,” threatened, hit and scratched him. He undoubtedly recognized that his interlocutor was a police officer because the latter has worked for more than twenty years in this district of Clapier where the attack took place.

The mayor of Saint-Etienne Gaël Perdriau reacted immediately.
“I strongly condemn the inadmissible aggression suffered this morning, when he took up his post, in the parking lot of Clapier, a municipal police officer,” he said.

“The city of Saint-Etienne, as it does regularly, will be legally at the side of its agent to support him in his efforts. We immediately put the resources of the city at the service of the national police so that the aggressor is actively sought and found ”, he also specified.
