[LE FIL CULTUREL DE L’ONTARIO FRANÇAIS]
The month of November has begun, Ontarians are returning to winter time this weekend… What can we do in Ontario to combat the growing lack of light? There are film festivals for the people of Ottawa with Cinema lens and for those in Toronto, by Cinéfranco. But the cultural thread also offers you a multidisciplinary festival, musical artists to discover, improvisation and the beginning of an important thematic week in French Ontario.
Music
Mother in the North
The Innu group, Maten, will be touring northern Ontario this week. The musicians can be seen at the Greater Sudbury Place des arts on November 6, at the La Ronde Cultural Center in Timmins on November 7 and at the Hearst Place des arts on November 8. The group from Mani-utenam, on the North Shore of Quebec, has been there for 25 years. It’s time to bring their music to a bigger audience, something that was highlighted during their performance switch to Contact ontarois this January. Maten’s energy, the important message and the songs in French and Innu-aïmun were able to convince the audience present and, fortunately, a few broadcasters answered the call.
