Their sudden, terrible death shook the entire Polish community in the Canadian province of Ontario. On Thursday, a week after the tragic death of our compatriot Karolina Ciasullo (+37 years) and her daughters Klara (+6 years), Lilianna, (+4 years) and Mila (+1 years) their relatives said goodbye to them in Polish church of St. Eugene de Mazenod in Brampton in the suburbs of Toronto.
Funeral ceremonies were closed, but they were broadcast live on the internet. Four white coffins with the bodies of our countrymen stood in front of the altar. Connie Ciasullo, the sister-in-law of Karolina, recalled those who died in a touching farewell. She assured that the 37-year-old, warm and wonderful person and her daughters will forever remain in the hearts and prayers of their family.
The tragic accident in which our compatriot and her daughters died was on Thursday, June 18. On an unlucky day, Carolina Ciasullo rode with the children in a van when her off-road Infiniti, led by Brady Robertson (20 years old) from Caledon, hit her car. A rammed Polish wagon pulled over and hit a street lamp, breaking it. The woman and her daughters Klara, Lilianna and Mila were killed on the spot. The perpetrator with minor injuries went to the hospital. He was accused of four dangerous deaths. He faces a life imprisonment.
Karolina was a 4th grade teacher at a Catholic elementary school St. Isaac Jogues. Friends of the deceased remembered her as a beautiful, wonderful person, a teacher devoted to their students, full of heart and kindness. Friends of the 37-year-old launched a collection on the gofundme website to help the family of the deceased in this difficult time. So far, $ 390,000 has been raised.
