Thiruvananthapuram | The government reinstates Saji Cherian in the cabinet Governor Arif Muhammad Khan has sought legal advice on the move. The governor’s permanent council was asked for advice on the validity of Saji Cherian’s oath. With this, the war between the governor and the government has reached a new level. The governor will return to Kerala tomorrow and make a decision on the oath of office of Saji Cherian.
The decision to return Saji Cherian to the cabinet was taken at the CPM secretariat meeting held yesterday. It is understood that the oath will be administered prior to the session of the assembly. The prime minister was instructed to fix the date according to the governor’s convenience. The government is considering allocating the departments of fisheries and film culture which were managed by Saji Cherian.
Saji Cherian had to resign from his ministerial post for making unconstitutional remarks. The High Court had previously rejected the application for the disqualification of Saji Cherian from the post of MLA.
