A motorcyclist dies in Sainte-Barbe

A 49-year-old man succumbed to his injuries after being struck by a vehicle Sunday afternoon, in Sainte-Barbe, in the Suroît region, in Montérégie.

According to initial information from the Sûreté du Québec, which was called to the scene around 2:15 p.m., the driver of the vehicle was traveling westbound on Route 132 and began a left turn on Chemin de Planches. It was at this point that he made contact with a motorcyclist who was heading east.

The 49-year-old man who was riding the motorcycle was seriously injured and it was on his arrival at the hospital that his death was pronounced.

The driver of the vehicle, in his thirties, was not seriously injured.

A collision investigation police officer came to the scene to determine the causes and circumstances of the accident.

Route 132 will remain closed between Montée Quesnel and Route 202 for an indefinite period.
