“FIn view of the current health situation, the mayors have decided to be a united collective of action, listening and proposals because the citizen, wherever he is, turns to the mayor when he is faced with a problem “ recalled Hubert Falco, president of the Association of Mayors of France of Var (AMF 83) after a meeting of the board of directors yesterday, in the premises of the departmental council in Draguignan.
These local elected officials say they have “took note of the dramatic consequences of the decision, on October 29, 2021, to close the emergency department, non-vital, at night at the Dracénie hospital center and its impact on the hospital services of Est Var and their population “.
7 actions expected immediately
They drafted a motion “because it is abnormal that the emergency rooms of the Dracénie hospital center are closed at night”. They see the uncertainties hanging over the future with a new wave of Covid-19 contamination. “We are approaching an incidence rate of 1,000 in the Var”, worries the mayor of Toulon.
In their eyes, seven actions “must be carried out locally in the immediate future: impose a preliminary dialogue with elected officials on health authorities (regional health agency, regional hospital group and management of hospital establishments) for all structuring decisions having consequences on the territories; by all means to national solidarity in the form of medical and paramedical human resources; set up without delay, a single department for hospitals in the East Var in order to improve the efficiency of decisions; perpetuate the territorial bonus system in order to make the most difficult hospitals more attractive in a logic of solidarity; help the departmental fire and rescue service due to the financial consequences in terms of increased passenger transport due to the closure of the Draguignan emergency room at night; improve the coordination of private medicine with hospitals and improve the n with clinics. In this regard and to relieve the hospital sector, it appears desirable that the creation of multi-professional health centers be encouraged by reducing the administrative constraints imposed for their creation “.
Finally, the mayors want “to be closely associated with the realization of the recent investment promises announced by the government in connection with the Region” (read opposite).
Adding that they “reaffirm their full and total support for our remarkable nursing staff”, they assure that they “will always remain, in solidarity, a force for listening, dialogue and proposals”.
1. the incidence rate is the number of new patients over a given period (this is called the incidence), compared to a given population (which makes it a rate). To calculate it, we take the number of new cases detected over the last seven days, we divide it by the target population (that of the department, the region, the country), then we multiply it by 100,000.
