A monument to Guido Ling, who was called to eternity last year, has been unveiled

Guido Linga passed away on December 20, 2020 in Riga.

The musician’s brother Igors Linga “Latvijas Radio” admitted at that time that his brother’s departure was unexpected: “He did not have any pronounced illness. He was not ill, he was not on the bed of illness.”

“We’re in shock. In complete shock, why he left. He didn’t complain at all. But we laughed every day, we joke … If other times you know that a person will leave, then in this case we didn’t think of such a concept at all.”

The Latvian rock band “Linga” was founded in December 1988 by the former leader of the group “Zig Zag” Guido Linga (born in 1969) and guitarist Armands Cālītis, when they recorded the song “City” together.

The band’s first public performance took place at the Rock for Independence Festival in March 1989, when guitarist Viktors Fedosejevs and synthesizer Ivars Makstenieks joined the band.

In 1989, Linga recorded his first album in cassette format. In the early 1990s, “Linga” became one of the most popular groups in Latvia, especially among young people, their best-known songs are “Come to dance”, “Tavern”, “Signe melo” and “Here here”.
