Neiva, Huila and Colombia learned at the beginning of last March of the outcry from the Plazas Mana family, who announced that Kelly Johanna Plazas Mana disappeared under strange circumstances in Rivera’s jurisdiction. According to those close to her, the 43-year-old woman left her home in the city of Neiva, apparently, to negotiate a lot in the municipality of Rivera and since then her whereabouts have been unknown.
Kelly Johanna traveled to kilometer 13 of the road that leads to the green capital of Huila and there exactly in ‘La Cabañita’, she got out of her vehicle in which she travels, which she left in charge at the place.
“They had contacted her to look at a lot. She had several properties on offer not from her but from the company she works for and went to wait for the client; It is known that she asked the grillman at the asadero to take care of her vehicle,” Pablo Emilio Plazas, father of the now missing woman, noted at the time.
There, around 5:30 in the afternoon, he got into a gray Renault Twingo vehicle, which took off in an unknown direction towards La Ulloa. Although the victim had his cell phone, it was turned off to cut off all communication and possible location.
His whereabouts are still unknown
A month after the disappearance of Kelly Johanna, Colonel Alexander Castillo Marín, commander of the Neiva Metropolitan Police, mentioned that the actions of the Judicial Police are headed by the Technical Investigation Corps of the Attorney General’s Office and, therefore , there is little information they can provide.
“The National Police has acted as a coordinator and accompaniment to our Prosecutor’s Office to try to find valuable elements that help with the activities of the CTI, however, unfortunately we do not have information that at the moment allows us to determine the whereabouts of the missing woman.” , added the colonel.
He mentioned that a reward stimulus of up to $30 million is currently offered by the institutions. The Government of Huila, for its part, has offered a reward of up to $20 million, the Mayor’s Office of Neiva up to $5 million and the Mayor’s Office of Rivera also $5 million. This is in order to find the whereabouts of Plazas Mana and identify those responsible.
“All my solidarity goes out to Kelly Johanna’s family, friends and neighbors; “We are attentive through the strategies that we have developed for this gender-based violence in favor of the advancement of issues that can guide and support our Technical Investigation Corps and thus determine what has happened,” he concluded.
For his part, Colonel William Javier Lara, commander of the Huila Police Department, continued along the same lines and called on the entire Huila community to join in the search for Kelly Johanna and collaborate with the authorities to solve this case that ” It concerns us all.”
Between disappearance and homicide
Although this case, which is in the investigation stage, has reservations, LA NACIÓN learned that a special task group made up of the CTI and the Gaula of the Police works on investigative acts from two fronts: on the one hand, it is investigated from one alleged disappearance and, on the other, from a possible homicide.
It was also established that despite the expectations generated by the reward stimuli and the existing advances in research, to date there is no concrete information derived from that area.
Along these lines, despite the more than 60 investigative activities that have been carried out, that is, almost two per day, there is nothing concrete in this regard.
Will the reward increase?
LA NACIÓN also learned that the authorities are considering increasing the reward in an attempt to make this a motivator to contribute to the investigation.
This information was corroborated by the Secretary of Government and Community Development of Huila, Edgar Martín Lara, who stated that, during this week’s security council this was a monitoring point, however, according to the Prosecutor’s Office report, the progress of This case cannot be made public due to the reservation that we indicated previously.
He explained that in that same space the suggestion was made to increase the value of the reward, however, since the security council is not the one to approve the resources, that part has not been provided and everything remains a possibility.
“The thing is that the person who approves the resources is the Territorial Public Order Committee and it is necessary to summon it in a special way for this matter of budget approval. They are the ones who will make the decision, evaluating the justification for it. Today we have no trace of the missing woman,” he stated.
A month full of pain and restlessness
With all this panorama, Pablo Emilio Plazas, father of Kelly Johanna Plazas Mana, commented that as everyone will understand, they have been 32 long, painful and very worrying days. In fact, the existing uncertainty is as it was on the first day where this ‘chaotic’ event began.
“The military and judicial authorities say they have good leads, but until then, we know nothing more. I have to admit that they have worked hard and have not spared time for this. The pain continues, but we must be calm because there is nothing more; “Only God will know how to take us,” he said.
He also said that he asks God to enlighten those who work on his daughter’s case so that they can reach the truth and end the anxiety that ‘consumes’ them daily. He once again called on citizens to collaborate with information in order to find a ray of ‘light’ in this dark panorama, and he has intact faith that they will find Kelly Johanna alive and healthy. “So far everything is silent, no one has called us to ask for money or anything. The uncertainty is total because she had no enemies and she was very hard-working,” she added.
And the suspect they had?
From the first moment, the Plazas Mana family has stated that they did not know who was behind the disappearance of Kelly Johanna. However, a version emerged that her ex-husband, due to the bad relationship they had with her, would be one of her suspects, since she even had to take a measure to keep her away from him so that he would not harass her.
But at present the veracity of this information has not been established and it has not been determined that the subject involved as a suspect has been called to testify, which is why many are wondering: What has happened to this line of investigation?
Finally, what experts indicate is that, the more time passes, the hopes of finding her alive decrease.
