According to the Jeongeup Police Station on the 6th, monk A (53), who was the suspected arson, called the police at about 6:35 pm on the 5th and reported that he set fire to Daeungjeon. It is estimated that the fire started around 6:30 pm on this day. It means that about five minutes after the arson, he reported the crime to the police by himself.

After reporting, Mr. A stayed at the scene without escaping. He was arrested and arrested by the police as a current offender. In a police investigation, he admitted to the crime, saying,’The monks who lived together made me feel sorry for drinking and accidentally set fire’. It is known that Mr. A entered Naejangsa Temple three months ago and lived as a monk.

The police are planning to apply for an arrest warrant against Mr. A on the charges of arson of the prefectural building during the day. The Daewoongjeon of Naejangsa Temple was burned down, and an estimated 1.7 billion won in property damage occurred at the fire station. Fortunately, there was no human injury.
