After three months of work to make this service more efficient while offering more comfort to the staff, the new processing center was inaugurated by Marie-Pierre Mouton, president of the SDIS and the general controller Didier Amadeï, director and head of the departmental body Drôme firefighters.
For several years, the Drôme department has been working on the project to modernize the departmental alert processing center in order to make it more efficient while taking care of the comfort for the agents.
Placed under the authority of Captain Thomas Hustache, this service has 36 professional firefighters (8 officers, 23 non-commissioned officers, 5 enlisted men), 20 volunteer firefighters (4 officers, 15 non-commissioned officers, 1 enlisted ), 21 health officers including 15 women.
Operating 24 hours a day, this service handled 206,739 calls in 2020.
A modern center resolutely focused on efficiency and comfort
Before launching the works, the General Staff had validated a project which consisted in offering the best working conditions to the operators of this functional unit both technologically and ergonomically.
Thus, the new platform of the Alert Processing Center has been fitted out at 2e SDIS management floor. It has been completely renovated and reviewed in terms of the distribution of premises, taking into account better interaction between the different operational rooms to facilitate exchanges, high acoustic treatment, reduction of backlighting on work screens , height-adjustable workstations, reinforced access control, a new heating/air-conditioning system and renewal of the IT and electronic equipment.
The platform now includes: an operational room for processing calls (CTA), a room for the departmental operational center (CODIS), a crisis room (reinforced CODIS), offices for officers (head of centre, deputy, officer in 3th), a herbal tea room, all on an area of 250 m2. Dedicated rooms and toilets have also been rehabilitated at 3th floor for this purpose.
This modernization work was spread over three months for a total cost of 399,000 euros.
A center at the top
During her speech, Marie-Pierre Mouton was pleased with this equipment, which offers firefighters working conditions worthy of their commitment, while the Comptroller General Didier Amadeï affirmed that he now has a top-notch center and that the men and women who operate in these premises work in excellent conditions at the service of the Drômois.
