Inese Kurvina, the development manager of the company “Northside Business Park”, says that the company has purchased three interconnected, functioning commercial properties at Flotes Street 16 and O. Kalpaka Street 40a, consisting of 96,992 m² of total land area, 31 buildings with production, warehouse, and workshop premises. (with a total area of 37,215.90 m²) and a six-story administrative building with a total area of 5,139.50 m² of commercial/office space.
“The potential of the location, the historically established infrastructure, the proximity of the port and the successful experience of developing industrial areas form a series of unique advantages that inspire and create confidence in the creation of a modern, sustainable and multifunctional business quarter.
In order to promote the development of the purchased commercial property, the company is working on a short-term and long-term development plan for the territory, according to which it is planned to create a business block with appropriate infrastructure and engineering communications in several stages.
It is planned to attract both public co-financing from European Union structural funds and available state support instruments for the development of the territory,” explains I. Kurvina.
Due to the proximity of the port, production and warehouses have been here almost since the birth of Liepāja itself, that is, since the 17th century.
In further history, from 1947 to the 1990s, a secret industry for the military needs of the USSR was operating in this territory (from machine building to the production of modern communication equipment with which military equipment was equipped).
After the privatization of the Liepāja machine-building plant, production, warehouse and office premises in this area are rented by companies of various industries.
SIA “Northside Business Park” and LSEZ SIA “Vecās ostmalas biznesa parks” (VOBP) are companies of the same group.
VOBP has established, manages and develops a 3.5-hectare industrial business park in the previously degraded area at Večāi ostmala 10, in which more than 20 tenants operate, employing around 400 employees.
Over the past six years, it has experienced significant improvements – historical buildings have been reconstructed, new production buildings have been built, the territory has been improved and engineering communications have been built.
By 2025, it is planned to complete the construction of the territory, creating a modern full-service business environment development center with production, warehouse and office premises on an area of 18,500 m².
