Major Search Operation in Hemsedal – Asking people to launch fireworks
An extensive search operation is underway at Ved Totten in Hemsedal for a missing skier. Police, air ambulance, rescue helicopter, Red Cross and Norwegian rescue dogs are patrolling the area.
Search helicopters had trouble with fireworks. Now everyone in Hemsedal has been asked not to use fireworks in the area.
It is currently unclear whether there was an avalanche in the area where the person was.
Three helicopters are patrolling the area, while the Red Cross and Norwegian rescue dogs are arriving on snowmobiles.
– It’s an area where working on foot is difficult, says operations manager Jan Kristian Johnsrud.
Weather conditions are calm and visibility is good, according to police.
The search will continue throughout the evening.
