Israeli missiles targeted the Syrian capital, Damascus, at midnight on Tuesday, according to official media, in the fourth attack of its kind since last Thursday, leaving two dead, according to the official Syrian media.
The official Syrian News Agency (SANA) said, “Our air defense media intercepted hostile targets in the airspace of Damascus.”
The official Syrian media reported that the attack killed two civilians.
SANA quoted a military source as saying, “At 12:15 a.m. today (9:15 GMT), the Israeli enemy carried out an air attack with barrages of missiles from the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan, targeting some points in the vicinity of Damascus and the southern region.”
“Our air defenses intercepted the aggression’s missiles and shot down most of them, and the aggression led to the death of two civilians and some material losses,” the source continued.
Over the past years, Israel launched hundreds of air strikes in Syria, targeting Syrian army sites and Iranian and Lebanese Hezbollah targets, including weapons and ammunition depots in separate areas.
Air strikes targeted Damascus for two consecutive nights, last Thursday and Friday, which the Syrian regime attributed to Israel.
Last Thursday’s raid resulted in the injury of two Syrian soldiers, according to the Syrian Ministry of Defense.
