A missed transfer from the canaries

Nantes are facing an extremely complex season after last year’s euphoria. Going through more delicate phases during the 2021-2022 season, FC Nantes could still boast being ranked 7th at mid-season, then qualifying for the Europa League in May. The summer was therefore agitated and, of course, a folder slipped through the fingers of the Canaries.

In many ways, the transfer window led by FC Nantes during the summer of 2022 was a chaotic one. However, the numerous departures announced after the epic Coupe de France experience did not take place. Alban Lafont, Ludovic Blas, Moses Simon and Quentin Merlin they did not leave despite several rumours, and the club was able to concentrate on finding their striker for a long time. Before taking on loan Evann Guessand, it seems that Nantes tried introduce another profile, but this one was not receptive.

Bouanga preferred Los Angeles

While Randal Kolo-Muani, now on an adventure with the French squad in Qatar, flew to Frankfurt in July, FC Nantes was looking for his replacement. To compensate for his departure, the club bet on not one, but three men. Mostafa Mohamed, Evann Guessand and Ignatus Ganago were recruited and thus brought a breath of fresh air to the attacking front. However, the knowledgeable Emmanuel Merceron revealed it last week via Twitter Denis Bouanga, the former ASSE, has left the Forez club for Los Angelesby turning down the advances of FC Nantes in passing.

While the American club is on the roof of the league this season, the Gabonese player shares his matches in particular alongside Gareth Bale or Carlos Vela. Away from Saint-Étienne, where he received a red card for his last game with the Greens, the player seems to blossom, while his choice seems clear: the European challenge proposed by Nantes it wasn’t enough to keep him on the old continent. A definitive departure for the outdoors?
