“Happiness Illuminated by Light Bulbs”

Already proven musical and theatrical duet – musician Zane Dombrovska and actress, director Dita Lūriņa – created the concert of the National Theater “Lightbulbs of Joy”. Songs by Latvian composers are accompanied by short stories and poems. Concert director Dita Lūriņa: “Christmas is my favorite holiday. And it is during Christmas that I feel that childhood never ends. Because I still want to have a lot. Let the Christmas tree be so big that it reaches the ceiling . Strings of lights not for meters, but for kilometers! Let a lot of light! And a lot of gifts, because there are whole volumes of poems in your head, you have to say them all. And let the air vibrate to the ringing of bells, let the wind and snow become music. Let the sounds of nightingales creep into all the songs and all become carols. And friends, let some have to “sit by the chandelier”. And a lot of joy! The joy of meeting, the joy of giving and receiving, the joy of surprise, the joy of preparation, the joy of singing, the joy of dancing, the joy of playing, the joy of closeness, the joy of visiting, the joy of partying.”

Concert participants: Agnese Budovska, Maija Doveika, Daiga Gaismiņa, Anna Klēvere, Elizabete Skrastiņa, Līga Zeļģe, Zane Dombrovska, Ainārs Ančevskis, Uldis Anže, Mārtiņš Brūveris, Raimonds Celms, Mārtiņš Egliens, Gundars Grasberg, Mārcis Manjakovs, Iisgor Šlegovsk

“Winter Variations”

“Winter Variations”

Until the new year, the Liepāja Theater presents its version of Christmas and welcomes the new year in the “Winter Variations” concert. In this festive concert, director Mārtiņš Kalita explores the traditions of this festive season together with theater actors. How have the holidays changed and how have they been influenced by the times we live in? What are the things and traditions that have remained unchanged, that we have regained and that we have lost?

The concert features both Christmas carols and more unusual holiday music. The annotation of the theater is truly inspiring: “Let’s string one story after another – quiet and calm, loud and powerful, full of humor and wild – so that Christmas unfolds in all possible variations.” Agnese Jēkabsone, Karīna Tatarinova, Everita Pjata-Gertner, Anete Berķe, Agnija Dreimane, Egons Dombrovskis, Viktors Ellers, Sandis Pēsis, Kārlis Artejevs, Valts Skuja and musicians led by Normund Kalniņš participate in the concert.
