A military plane crashed near Kavala (Video)

An Antonov An-12TB military plane crashed near the Greek city of Kavala, airlive.net reported.

A rescue operation has begun. There are no reports of deaths or injuries yet.

The Meridian Air Cargo plane was operating flight MEM3032 from the Serbian city of Nis to the Jordanian capital of Amman, when the pilot requested an emergency landing due to failure of one of the four engines. However, he did not manage to reach the airport. According to Greece City Times, the plane was transporting weapons to Ukraine.

It crashed on a slope between Paleochori and Antiphilippi, near a village.

Local residents testified that loud explosions were heard.

Power supply to many villages has been cut.

It is believed that the huge plane hit power lines when it fell.
