And the cameraman suddenly had a lot of attention for the half-empty glass of liquor on stage, that too.
Still, the answer to the question of who kept this show afloat is Grace Jones. Because the fucking Grace Jones is. The more outrageous her headgear – she changed every number – the thicker the streams of charisma that gushed down her bodypainted body. She got on her hands and knees and stared into the audience like a man possessed, she shook her head like a savage woman, she threw tambourines into the audience quite loudly, she sang “Amazing Grace” and yelled at her audience when they weren’t enthusiastic sang along, she changed clothes on stage and then lifted her crinoline to reveal her panties. Say what you will, but she was as Grace Jones as Grace Jones can be.
