A message from the World of Warcraft team – World of Warcraft – Blizzard news

In conversations with our team it became clear that we all wanted to publish a statement that faithfully represents the feelings of the World of Warcraft, so we asked all our colleagues to send us their suggestions and comments on the best way to reach the community. Here is the result.

The last few days have been a period of reflection for the team of World of Warcraft. We have dedicated ourselves to talking and meditating; We have done it with great doses of sadness, pain and anger, but also with hope and determination. We have listened to the courageous women who have stepped forward to share their experiences and we are committed to taking whatever steps are necessary to ensure an inclusive, welcoming and safe environment for both our team and our players in Azeroth. Those of us in leadership positions understand that it is not our place to judge whether these goals have been achieved, but rather to encourage our team and our community to let us know when they see that we can do more.

We are turning to our team for guidance on the work we must do internally to protect the most excluded groups and to hold those who threaten them accountable, but we also want to take immediate action in Azeroth to remove inappropriate references to our world. This work is already underway, and, in the next few days, you will see some changes of this tenor both in Shadowlands like in WoW Classic.

We are aware that, to regain everyone’s trust, we must back up our words with action in the weeks and months to come. But we will continue down this path with the assurance that we share the same vision as our community about creating a place where people of all genders, ethnicities, sexual orientations and backgrounds can thrive and can proudly call home. .
