Police have arrested a man accused of belonging to the Islamic State terrorist organization and of participating in several murders on Thursday after fighting in an illegal immigrant camp in Greece.
The 27-year-old suspect was in the camp with his wife and children. He arrived in Greece in March 2018.
The man was detained after a fight in a camp between two groups of migrants.
Police have acknowledged that such arrests are not common.
Greece on Wednesday announced the construction of new reception centers for asylum seekers and a reduction in the maximum number of migrants in camps on Greek-owned islands. Many of these camps are overcrowded.
