The result of the first test that a member of the International Monetary Fund’s mission to Argentina underwent positive for the emerging corona virus, and the mission member will undergo a second test today, Sunday, to confirm the result of the first test, according to International Monetary Fund spokesman Jerry Rice.
In a statement on this matter, Rice said that the mission member had not shown any symptoms and that he felt that he was in good condition.
The statement stated that the International Monetary Fund has informed the local authorities in Argentina to start implementing the isolation protocol, and that the authorities will also be informed of all the people that the IMF mission member met during this week.
Meanwhile, Bloomberg News reported on Sunday that the International Monetary Fund mission will continue its virtual meetings in Buenos Aires next week.
The members of the International Monetary Fund had met two days ago with the President of the Argentine Parliament, Sergio Massa, in the capital, Buenos Aires.
On Friday, Bloomberg quoted the press office of the president of the Argentine House of Representatives as saying that the meeting was constructive and positive.
Sergio Massa told the IMF mission that the government would seek to achieve the consensus necessary to secure the agreements concluded by Argentina.
The mission, headed by Deputy Director of the Western Hemisphere, Julie Cusack, at the Fund and Head of Mission of the Fund Lui Kubedo, had arrived in Argentina several days ago to start formal negotiations on a new program to repay Argentina’s debts worth 44 billion dollars.
