Due to several accidents, traffic is temporarily blocked in the “Topli Dol” tunnel on the “Hemus” highway. This was announced by the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs – Sofia, quoted by BTA.
There have been three road accidents there in the last two hours, with the latest one still being processed by police officials. All drivers and passengers were promptly taken out of the tunnel, no citizens were injured. At the moment, specialized equipment is expected to pull a car with blocked wheels out of the tunnel, the OD of the Ministry of the Interior – Sofia also informed.
In order to ensure the safety of the traffic and to prevent convoys of waiting cars, additional police teams from the Directorate of the Ministry of the Interior – Sofia have been deployed to regulate and support traffic.
The press center of the Road Infrastructure Agency (API) later announced that the traffic on the Hemus highway in the area of the Topli Dol tunnel in the direction of Varna is being restricted in order to ensure the passage of traffic in the direction of Sofia in two strips in the pipe of the facility. Cars are diverted along a detour route from the “Vitinska Reka” road junction along road I-1 and road II-17 and return to the highway at the “Botevgrad” road junction.
