A meerkat and a serval, in quarantine, are the last to arrive

The last resident to arrive at La Tanière zoo-refuge is a meerkat.

And Jojo, that’s his name, has already been buzzing on social networks since his arrival on Friday. Pending the construction of its future enclosure, it is currently in quarantine like some of its congeners welcomed during this winter break.

A few meters further, in a space of this room equipped with all the latest technologies to monitor and care for the residents, a 9-kilo serval, a magnificent African feline, who has also arrived in recent days, is resting.

“This quarantine room is the obligatory passage for all the animals collected”, explains Patrick Volas. “It is a model of technology in terms of hygiene, monitoring and care. Certainly the only one of this type in France,” explains Patrick Violas. “Thanks to the network of cameras, our trainers can follow the slightest event that occurs in this room on their mobile phones. »

We asked Patrick Violas what the television screens that hang on the walls of the quarantine room were for. “It’s not a joke, but we often put the film The Lion King ! The animals that are here in quarantine love watching this movie, it relaxes them! »
