a “Mediterranean Sustainable Buildings” label for the future Joly-Jean school

The new school project in the Joly-Jean Concerted Development Zone (ZAC) district has just been awarded the “Mediterranean Sustainable Buildings” label.

Launched in 2020 by the City of Avignon (Vaucluse), the new school project in the ZAC Joly-Jean district is part of a Mediterranean Sustainable Buildings (BDM) and Positive Energy Building (BEPOS) approach. It is therefore a project involving a real environmental approach. Designed with a resolutely modern architecture, in symbiosis with nature, this construction aims to integrate the building into the green belt of this eco-district, but also to learn about sustainable development.

The project did not fail to seduce the jury of the EnvirobatBDM association and the Ecological Transition Agency. It received the gold level “Mediterranean Sustainable Buildings” label on April 13 for its design phase. This is a French environmental quality benchmark, created in 2008. Its objective is to assess construction and rehabilitation projects for buildings in a process of continuous improvement.

The future school will welcome students from Avignon at the start of the 2024 school year. It is designed to respond to the increase in the number of children attending school in the town. The establishment, covering a total area of 2,100 m², will include eleven classrooms as well as a school canteen of approximately 400 m².
