A medieval open-air museum burned down in Prague, according to firefighters, the damage will be great

The fire brigade informed about the fire at Twitter. “The grass and part of the wooden buildings of the open-air museum are burning,” said firefighter spokesman Martin Kavka.

The burning started around 4:30 p.m. The flames hit four wooden buildings, grass and a piece of forest. Firefighters intervened due to the thick smoke in the breathing equipment.

“The units managed to get the flames under control about 20 minutes after arrival, followed by the extinguishing of the burnt parts of the buildings. The fire practically destroyed several buildings and caused more damage, their exact extent and cause of the fire is being saved by fire and police investigators, “Kavka described the situation shortly after 5 pm.

The Řeporyj open-air museum is intended to illustrate the life of ancestors in the 14th century and was built from natural materials using contemporary methods. The complex includes, for example, a tavern, a granary, a smithy and a church.

Since 2017, the open-air museum has been inaccessible to the public. However, it is often used by filmmakers to shoot historical films.
