A medical caravan for the benefit of the populations of Mvengué – AGP

Franceville, March 11, 2023, (AGP)-As part of the Action Plan on itinerant medicine, the Amissa Bongo University Hospital Center (CHUAB), organized this Friday, March 10 in Mvengué, in the department of Passa , Haut-Ogooué, a medical caravan for the benefit of the population. This caravan was mainly focused on consultations, screenings, distribution of impregnated mosquito nets and medicines, prenatal consultations and others.

Organized within the framework of the 3Ps (Proximity, pragmatism and patriotism), advocated by the highest authorities, the traveling medicine program in the various provinces was initiated by the Minister of Health, Guy Patrick Obiang. It is in this context that the Amissa Bongo University Hospital Center (CHUAB), organized this Friday, March 10 in Mvengué, in the department of Passa, Haut-Ogooué, a medical caravan for the benefit of the populations.

Also, from 9 am the populations of all the surrounding villages made the trip to the dispensary of Mvengué, in order to benefit from the medical caravan that came to the populations.

The large populations have made the trip

To this end, the populations who came in large numbers were able to benefit from general medicine consultations, specialized consultations, screenings, vaccinations and prenatal consultations, the distribution of drugs and impregnated mosquito nets, and awareness raising on public health pathologies.

Led by the Director of CHUAB, Dr. André N’tchoreret, and supervised by the Regional Director of South-East Health (DRSS), Iris Kévin Ivala Zogo, this program targets rural areas and contributes somewhat to alleviating considerably the many sufferings of the populations who live far from the hospital. According to the organizers, the guardianship’s vision is to strategically eradicate medical deserts and ensure access to quality primary health care for all.

According to the director of CHUAB, Dr. André N’tchoreret, this itinerant medicine is a local medical concept that brings health personnel to the populations. ‘‘It is within this framework that the CHUAB’s mission is to organize fairground consultations in the department of La Passa and the commune of Franceville, but above all to support the teams of the departments in the organization of medical caravans in the whole province‘, he explained.

People who are happy with this initiative have hoped that such initiatives will multiply in order to help rural populations who sometimes have difficulty reaching hospitals.
