Apple’s much-overlooked iPad mini will get a refresh this fall, according to a new report. The iPad mini has been waiting for a new design for a long time, and we’ve been hearing rumors for months that such a refresh is in the cards. Now it looks like we’ll see it before the end of the year.
As part of this week’s Power On newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says the refreshed iPad mini is ready for a fall launch, also adding that it is “the biggest redesign in the world.” nine-year history ‘of the miniature tablet.
Apple gave the iPad mini some love in 2019 and it was nothing more than a processor issue and the addition of Apple Pencil support. This new update is considered to be much more complete, with a new design potentially bringing a removal of the Home button similar to that of the iPad Air.

However, removing the Home button is unlikely to mean we’re getting Face ID on the smaller iPad. The iPad Air has already put Touch ID in its sleep / wake button and a similar move is likely here, although we’ll obviously have to wait for an official announcement to be sure.
Apple looks like it’s about to have a loaded drop on its hands. The iPhone 13 launch is pretty big, but Apple Watch Series 7 is also expected to be announced and rumors of new Macs won’t go away – suggesting a bumper for months for Apple’s product teams before the end of the season. 2021.
We’re not suggesting grabbing an iPad mini right now, but the iPad Air is a great machine. In fact, it’s arguably the best iPad for most people right now.
