A map to track the spread of coronavirus in real time

At the time of this writing, the death toll for coronavirus from Wuhan, China is 107 dead. It has already infected more than 4,474 people, including 4,409 in China.

Using data from the American and Chinese Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the World Health Organization (WTO), researchers at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, have developed a map to track in real time the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases, but also the number of people who have died and the cases of recovery.

Each red dot represents a focus of onset of the disease. The size corresponds to the relative extent of contagion. By clicking on one of them, it is possible to obtain more detailed information on the cases recorded in this region.

The researchers also provide a graph on the speed of spread of the virus in China and other countries. Currently, taking into account Hong Kong and China, cases of coronavirus are listed in 19 countries.

Experts, however, expect the actual number of people infected to be much higher than the official total.
