a man was shot dead with a harpoon gun on a campsite

A man suspected of killing his brother with a harpoon shot on Friday in Lucciana (Upper Corsica) was placed in custody in the Borgo prison on Sunday, we learned Wednesday from the Bastia prosecutor’s office. The victim, 29, resident in the village, died of his injuries after being hit in the chest by the harpoon arrow. The events took place in the heart of a campsite located in Lucciana, in a wooded area, a few hundred meters from the beach.

“An investigation for voluntary murder has been opened, entrusted to the Bastia research brigade”, explains Arnaud Viornery, prosecutor of the Republic of Bastia. In the trial, the victim’s 27-year-old brother, also a resident of Lucciana, was arrested, charged with murder and placed in pre-trial detention in the Borgo pre-trial detention center.

An alteration at the origin of the harpoon firing?

The reasons for this deadly altercation are not yet known. According to the indictment, several people from the family running the premises gathered around 8pm before the tragedy.

An altercation would then break out between the two brothers before one of them seized the harpoon gun to use it.
