Witnesses called the police to OC Nový Smíchov on Saturday after 4:00 pm, saying that a man with a gun was in a dressing room in one of the clothing stores.
“For security reasons, we called several patrols to the scene as well as an emergency unit,” police spokesman Richard Hrdina told Novinka.
The emergency team with the police searched the center and found a man under the influence of alcohol, who was throwing used cards around. Police took the suspect into custody after he refused to comply with their calls.
“No weapon was found at the scene and the man was taken to the emergency services,” Hrdina said shortly before 5 p.m.
According to the police, he was a foreigner, they did not mention his nationality. The incident happened while the center was fully operational and the visitors were watching.
