Al-Marsad Newspaper: Shamil Capers spent 8 years of his life in prison for a murder he always claimed he did not commit, in New York State.

Capers was accused of participating in the shooting and death of 14-year-old Diagaya Robinson in 2013. According to CNN.
The victim was a student who was injured in a gang fight while driving a bus.

Capers’ attorney indicated that police arrested the defendant, Kevin McClinton, a member of the gang, and charged him with murder.
“I feel like I’ve missed everything,” Capers said, speaking of the time from 15 to 24 years old.
She said she hoped her journey could be an inspiration to others, saying, “If you know you are innocent, fight until the day your innocence is revealed.”
