Comedian Dave Chapelle was attacked during a performance at the Hollywood Bowl Amphitheater in Los Angeles, the Associated Press reported.
The incident happened on Tuesday night, the actor was not injured.
The guards caught and neutralized the attacker, and Chapelle continued with his show. The man was taken by ambulance from the amphitheater.
The attacker was carrying a fake pistol, but a real knife blade was placed in it, NBC News reported, quoting the Los Angeles police. However, they did not release an official statement about the arrest of the man who carried out the attack, nor did they respond to a request for details from the Associated Press.
Dave Chapelle was performing at his stand-up show in the amphitheater as part of the Netflix is a Joke festival when the man took the stage and attacked him.
Actor Jamie Foxx was near the stage and Chapelle thanked him for reacting to the attack. Chris Rock was also present and jokingly asked if the attacker was not Will Smith.

The incident happened while Chapelle was finishing his show, talking about how comedians should worry more about their personal safety after this year’s Oscars. Actor Will Smith then took to the stage and slapped Chris Rock live on television after he allowed himself an inappropriate joke about his wife’s illness.
