a man saves a handicapped person from the metro tracks

This Wednesday, August 4, a man in a wheelchair fell on the tracks of the New York subway. He was saved by a stranger, helped by passers-by, a few seconds before the arrival of the train.

Sometimes reacting quickly is enough to save a life. This Wednesday, August 4, the speed of action of an unknown made it possible to avoid a tragedy in the metro of the Big Apple, reports the New York Post. At around 1:30 p.m., a man in a wheelchair fell on the tracks as the metro was about to arrive. Listening only to his instincts, a passerby immediately jumped on the rails to help him.

Assisted by other metro users, the Good Samaritan finally managed to hoist the man in the wheelchair onto the platform, before getting back up in his turn. Present at the scene, WCBS reporter Lauren Mennen filmed the entire scene. And his video reveals that the metro was only seconds away from arriving and hitting the two men. The images were then posted to the @SubwayCreatures Twitter account.

Support and anonymity

The man in the wheelchair was not identified but our American colleagues learned that he had been taken care of at Bellevue Hospital, conscious and with a stable medical condition. As for the hero for a day, his identity has not been revealed and he does not seem to want to make himself known to the general public.
