The case was reported in August 2018. In October last year, the children’s father returned to Norway, but the children were not included. He reported to the police and has since been in custody.

In February, he was sentenced to two years in prison in Stavanger District Court for evasion of care. He appealed the sentence, and the Court of Appeal sharpened the sentence by six months.

The children’s mother is also from the border areas between Pakistan and Afghanistan. In court, she explained that she fears for her own life if she goes back there.

– The insult has further explained that she has been told by the convicted family that the only way she can meet the children again is by moving to Pakistan and resuming cohabitation and marriage with the convicted, the sentence says.
