A man in his forties insulted a woman from Tampere on the social media video service Tiktok. The man published videos in which he made claims about the woman’s health and used derogatory names about her.

Among other things, the man called the woman a cunt, a fat ball, a whore, and a mental patient. He also said that the woman was on sick leave or was applying for one.

The man made videos for half a year. There were numerous of them. In some of the videos, the man talked about the woman by her name.

At first, the man denied that he had made videos of the woman. However, the matter was undisputed. Since then, the man admitted that he was behind the videos and said that his “wrong” language use was due to the “excited state” that the woman had caused.

“Getting angry” does not justify an act

The woman won 2,500 euros from the man in court for the suffering caused by the insult.

According to the court’s assessment, the man’s words about the woman’s health were sensitive information about private life. The court considered the expressions used about the woman to be derogatory.

The court ruled that the man’s “piss off” did not entitle him to publish the videos and considered that the videos were capable of causing damage and suffering to the woman.

However, the man’s health issues lowered the blame and punishment. The court considered that the man’s state of health has “significantly affected” his ability to regulate his behavior.

The district court of Pirkanmaa sentenced a 45-year-old man to a reduced fine for defamation and spreading information that violates private life.

40 daily fines make his income a total of 240 euros. The man must compensate the offending woman a total of 1,500 euros.
