A man was shot dead after injuring a police officer, Saturday March 12, on the quay of the Old Port in front of the town hall of Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône), learned franceinfo from a police source. According to this same source,an individual burst in with a knife”. He first received a Flash-ball shot but managed to injure a policeman in the wrist. He was then shot dead, according to another police source at franceinfo. The scene took place at a donation collection point for Ukraine. No link has yet been established between the two events.
Traveling to Marseille, the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, reported a man “aggressive and extremely violent”. After resorting to “several types of intermediate weapons”these latter “fired and arrested this person”.
The attacker, of French nationality, was 58 years old, specifies a judicial source to franceinfo.
