A man in Vysočina jumped into the flooded Bystřice for his dog

In the locality of Lužánky, where the river Bystřice flows, firefighters intervened at half past eight in the morning.

“The man went to rescue his dog. By the time the firemen arrived, the man was already on the shore, the firemen rescued the dog, the man ended up in the care of paramedics,” described Petra Musilová, spokeswoman for the Vysočin fire department.

“Fortunately, the person was saved and his life is currently out of danger,” added Petr Janáček, spokesman for the rescue service.

“We appeal to all citizens to take care of their safety. In no case is it advisable to move near any watercourses at the moment,” Janáček noted.

It rains heavily in the Czech Republic, which raises the water levels. In places, they have already risen to the third level of flood activity. An extreme rain warning is in effect until the end of the week.
