According to information from Provence, a man was found dead in a city plagued by drug trafficking located in the northern districts of Marseille on the night of Thursday to Friday. The body was found shortly before midnight in a charred car in the courtyard of a building in Parc Corot, in the 13th arrondissement.
An investigation was entrusted to the judicial police. An autopsy will take place during the day to determine the cause of death of this victim, for the time being unidentified, said the public prosecutor of Marseille, Dominique Laurens. The body was in the vehicle and not in the trunk, according to investigators.
Two murders in one day
This Thursday, another homicide took place in a hotel in downtown Marseille. A man was stabbed to death in the same building after being forced out of his room by two other men who had rented a room across from his.
The victim, like his two alleged attackers still on the run, are “Marseillo-Marseillais, not tourists, all were known to the police for their involvement in drug cases”, according to the judicial police, without however affirming that this murder is necessarily a settling of scores linked to drug trafficking. “It may be a private issue, these cases are often multi-factorial.” Since January, 17 people have died by bullets and three by stab wounds against the backdrop of drug trafficking in the Bouches-du-Rhône.
