In the past days, in the period from November 17 this year at 6.30 to November 19 at 6.30, the Vidzeme Region Brigade of the State Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) received 10 calls – five for firefighting, four for rescue work, but another call was a deception.
Tuesday at A call was received at 20.54 Varaklani, where in the kitchen on the first floor of a one-storey residential house, 1m² of household goods burned by the stove. Before the SFRS arrived, two people evacuated from the building on their own. At 22.45 The fire was extinguished. The house did not have a smoke detector.
At night on Wednesday at 2.04 firefighters rushed to G. Apiņa Street in Valmiera, where in an apartment house in an apartment on the stove had burned food in the area of 0.1m². The fire was extinguished before the arrival of the SFRS. In this house, too, firefighters did not hear a warning signal from a smoke detector.
Yesterday at 6.00 has received a call to Madona district Lazdonas parish, where in a three-storey residential house, in the second floor apartment, 4m² of household belongings burned, a very strong smoke had formed in the house. A man died in the fire. At 7.34 the fire was extinguished.
The most tragic fires often take place at night, when people are asleep and do not notice the fire. The opportunity to escape is provided by a smoke detector, which, when a smoke develops, beeps loudly, waking up the occupants of the house. Install a smoke detector in your home and save lives! The SFRS reminds that from January 1, 2020, all dwellings must have smoke detectors installed, which will warn of a fire with the help of a loud sound. In turn, private houses must be additionally provided with a fire extinguisher.
A call was received this morning at 04.47 Tirza parish of Gulbene district, where a pile of 300m šķ branches for chipping burns in the forest. At 06.18 this fire was localized and is currently being extinguished. Jaunpiebalga, Gulbene and Cesvaine firefighters are working at the scene.
The help of fire and rescue workers was also needed in the past days Burtnieki municipality, Valmiera parish, where the 5m² roof structure of the two-storey sauna building burned, as well as Madona district in Kalsnava parish, where soot in the area of 0.1 m² burned in the chimney of a one-storey residential house.
In the past two days, the SFRS received 88 calls throughout Latvia – 39 for firefighting, 39 for rescue work, but ten calls were deceptions.
