The men who arrived took off the white-red and white ribbons and were severely beaten when Bandarenka demanded that they be stopped. Later, the man died of the injuries in resuscitation.
According to the news, hundreds of people began to gather in Belarus’s “Square of Change”, blaming the Lukashenko regime for his death. On Friday, November 13, activists declared a general day of mourning.
Opposition leader Svetlana Tihanovska, who has now arrived in Riga to attend the Riga conference, stressed that Bandarenka had been killed by Alexander Lukashenko’s bandits.
She also appealed to Bandarenka’s mother, saying that her son had become an innocent victim of a brutal system that the Belarusian people considered a hero.
