A man arrested in Murcia for robbing a taxi driver after leaving jail

A man tried to rob a taxi driver by putting a knife to his back, just two days after he was released from prison.

The events occurred in the Murcian district of El Palmar, when the detainee asked the taxi driver to take him to the side of the capital’s bullring.

Before arriving at the height of the Murcia Red Cross square, he placed a knife on his back, although in the end it did not cause him any injury or even give him any money because he began to cry when he asked him not to injure him.

The detainee told him that it was the first time he had committed such an act and he left the taxi when it stopped at a traffic light.

When the taxi driver resumed his march with the intention of going to the police station, the alleged robber ran after the car to apologize and beg him not to report him, since, he added, he had just been released from jail.

As stated in the proceedings of the Murcia guard court, his entry into prison was ordered, a place from which he had left two days earlier after the conformity sentence handed down by a Cartagena investigating court after he recognized in the trial that the past March 13 had tried to rob a pharmacy in this city.

The sentence of ten months and 16 days in prison that was then imposed on him was suspended for three years on condition that during that time he did not commit any crime again.
