A magnitude 6.2 earthquake occurred in Jember and was felt as far away as Surabaya

A magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck off Jember Regency, East Java on Tuesday (6/12/2022) at 13.07 WIB.

BMKG noted that the epicenter occurred in the sea 284 kilometers southwest of Jember, at the coordinates of 0.75 LS, 113.42 E at a depth of 10 kilometers.

This earthquake does not have the potential to cause a tsunami.

A number of e100 Netters reported feeling vibrations in Waru, Surabaya; Blitar; Club; Banyuwangi; and Ponorogo.

No damage and aftershocks were reported.(iss/rst)
