A magnitude 6.1 earthquake shakes Taiwan – Daily The Page – 2024-04-25 18:24:55

An earthquake of magnitude 6.1 has been recorded on the island of Taiwan, reported the US Geological Survey (USGS).

The epicenter of the earthquake, which occurred at 2:26 on Tuesday local time, was located 28 kilometers south of the city of Hualien. It had a depth of 10.7 kilometers.

According to the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), there is no danger of a tsunami. The previous day, a 5.5 magnitude earthquake was recorded on the east coast of the island.

In early April, a strong earthquake of magnitude between 7.2 and 7.5 according to different estimates shook Taiwan, being the strongest to hit the island in at least 25 years. According to local media, nine people died and at least 821 were injured by the natural disaster.
