Aorta is the largest artery in the human body that functions to carry blood from the heart throughout the body.

After the aortic arch, the aorta descends through the thoracic and abdominal cavities, passing through various organs and carrying oxygen-rich blood throughout the body.

The aorta is divided into several parts, including the ascending aorta (upper part), the aortic arch (arch), and the descending aorta (lower part).

The aorta also consists of three layers of walls, namely an inner layer called the tunica intima, a middle layer called the tunica media, and an outer layer called the tunica adventitia.

Aorta has a very important function in maintaining the health of the circulatory system and the balance of the human body.

After oxygen is taken up by the cells and tissues of the body, the blood will contain less oxygen and more carbon dioxide (CO2) when it returns to the heart through the veins.

When oxygen-rich blood flows through the aorta, other substances contained in the blood such as nutrients, hormones, and metabolic waste are also carried.

Nutrients such as glucose, amino acids, and fats obtained from food are absorbed by the intestines and enter the bloodstream.

Hormones produced by the endocrine glands are also carried by the blood throughout the body to affect body functions such as growth, metabolism, and hormone balance.
