a lot of noise and few arguments!

Despite the reports of heart problems associated with these, there are more deaths that are prevented than those that can be caused by cardiovascular accidents.

Since their first approval, vaccines for COVID-19 have been plagued with controversy. It did not take long for conspiracy theories to emerge in which it was denounced that these biologicals were part of a strategy to control the population. Some even went so far as to ensure that locator chips were being implanted in some way with the injection.

In recent times a new controversy has arisen. Cases of cardiovascular accidents associated with vaccines have gone viral. In addition, a relationship has been found between them and the appearance of a condition known as myocarditis or inflammation of the muscle tissue of the heart.

In particular, a study is being used by anti-vaxxers to discredit what, so far, has been the greatest solution to the most serious global pandemic in recent history. The problem is that only a part of the results is being considered.

The study everyone is referring to is the one carried out by Anders Husby and others in the Nordic countries (Sweden, Finland, Norway and Denmark). see the study. In this study, 7,292 patients older than 12 years diagnosed with myocarditis were evaluated to compare the outcomes of those whose condition was conventional with those who had it associated with the COVID-19 vaccine or with the disease itself.

Husby found that the proportion of patients who developed myocarditis from the vaccine is higher than those who developed it from the disease or from other causes. This has been enough for a large number of people to cry out loud on social networks, assuring that “the vaccine is deadly” and that “no one else should inject that poison.”

However, few took the time to read all the study outcomes. Although the vaccine does indeed make it more likely to develop myocarditis, the impact of this condition is less severe than in patients with COVID-19 or in those whose myocarditis is unrelated to either. In addition, vaccine-associated myocarditis has less risk of triggering heart failure.

A different study by Maryam Kakovan and others found similar results. here the study. This was a literature review in which cases of cerebrovascular accidents associated with vaccines were evaluated.

The conclusion was that although the COVID-19 vaccine has a risk of ischemic stroke, hemorrhagic stroke, cerebral venous sinus thrombosis, and thrombotic thrombocytopenia, the risk-benefit ratio remains positive.

The authors assure that patients can rest easy, but they invite health professionals to keep these adverse events in mind.

In particular, the vaccine from the American pharmaceutical company Pfizer has been the most surrounded by controversy. This was augmented by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s “Vaccine Safety Data Link”.

This report found a potential risk of developing ischemic stroke within 21 days of receiving the Pfizer vaccine in people older than 65 years. However, they assure that there is not enough evidence to consider that there is a real clinical risk and that more investigations are needed.
