‘A lot of money and subsidies goes abroad and to what extent do we benefit from it?’ – The Daily Standard

The rapid pace at which the government is installing wind farms and solar meadows is worrying BBB leader Caroline van der Plas. There is hardly any consultation with the citizens themselves and far too much money and subsidies disappear into the pockets of foreign investors. According to her, this should absolutely not be the intention.

Van der Plas spoke about climate policy at WNL on Saturday, where she criticized the government’s sometimes ill-considered climate policy. “The green space is filled with data centers and mega solar parks.” said the BBB leader.

Van der Plas criticizes the lack of consultation and transparency in Dutch climate policy. Citizens are often not informed at all, which leads to a lot of irritation. At WNL she said that the government still has quite a few questions to answer about this:

“We are concerned about the extent to which citizens are involved in this. And to what extent do they benefit from it? A lot of money and subsidies disappear into the pockets of large foreign investors. ”

Nor can she blame farmers who rent out or sell plots of land for the installation of solar meadows or wind turbines. Dutch farmers are already being squeezed enough and an extra pocket money is welcome for them:

“I can imagine farmers renting out their land to set up windmills or solar parks. It is extra income for a farmer, but a farmer must be able to get his income from food production. An official does not have a paper route on the side either. ”

Van der Plas raised several valid points, the participation from the government with citizens is virtually zero. Dutch citizens only receive information about climate projects, but they agree or contribute ideas. According to Van der Plas, this must change. Current policy, where citizens are in fact on the sidelines, cannot be sustained in this way.
