In addition to all the traditional entertainment, the Brûlon Comic Book (Sarthe) hosted the final of the French Chainsaw Carving Championship this weekend.
In partnership with Ternil sawmillthe organizers worked on it for two years and it was a total success!
Coming from all over France, from the Pyrenees to the Upper Normandy passing by Rhone-Alpes or theOccitaniatwelve sculptors worked, during two daystall oak logs to match the theme, tales and legends of our countryside.
Several tests
This is how we saw the birth before our eyes of the puss in bootsthe little red riding hood, a dragon, a gargoyle or even the legend of the Pyrenees. Each sculptor also participated in two competitions with a free theme on Saturday and on the environment and ecology theme Sunday.
These competitions lasted for half an hour, the time for each artist to transform a smaller oak log into an owl, a tree, a lion, a bee…
The spectators were able to appreciate the dexterity and speed with which the works came to life. After the jury’s visit, the results were given in front of a still very large audience, and it is Francis Ferret who is the new French champion in front Nicolas Dorange et Aurelien Bonin.
A large number of these works have been sold. In addition to this competition, Edith Plazzota, Florian Linder et Andy Assmanthree international artists, were tasked with creating a sculpture representing a salamander for the town hall of Brûlon.
All the sculptors praised the public, the good organization and the warm welcome of the Brûlon show.
