The operation is certainly nothing new, but crime fiction readers are always pleased to find a book of stories in their hands with which they can perhaps ferry them from the Christmas holidays to the New Year. Between a toast and an exchange of good wishes, therefore, we meet some of the most beloved characters of Italian noir, such as inspector Ferraro, investigator Elia Contini, commissioner De Vincenzi and colonel Bruno Arcieri. And we travel around Italy: from the corrupt and violent Rome of the seventies to the bloody Rome of today; from Florence in 1944, the scene of a double love story put to the test by the war, to the Tuscan countryside with the current story of two little brothers on the trail of a man in the woods: where is he going?
