NEW YORK – A Long Island police officer was struck by a vehicle Tuesday night while investigating an accident.
There are few details about the incident, but a Suffolk County Police spokesman said the officer was run over in William Floyd Parkwaand, north of the Long Island Expressway, in Yaphank, shortly before midnight. The officer’s condition is unclear.
Police said the officer was at the scene of an accident, but there was no other information or specific details.
The case is under investigation.
