The deadline for submitting lists for the election of the vice president of the Lawyers Forum expires tomorrow and a new feature appeared among the armed groups. It is a group that has the support of the blocist party and that has as its candidate Wbaldino Acosta Zapata, son of the deputy governor who was in charge of the Executive after the removal of Cruzadista Alfredo Avelín in the provincial government of the Alliance. The sector will play in the elections that, since 2018, has been dominating the Peronist Lawyers Association, whose candidate who sounds the strongest is Roy Kirby. The third space in dance is the so-called Independent Forum, in which one of its references, Marcelo Arancibia, assured that they will be from the party, although until yesterday they had not defined the names. The former president of the entity had even indicated that they would seek allies in professionals from Together for Change to fight.
At the political party level, the justicialismo and the blocism are partners in the All Front. The participation of lists with the support of both political forces could be seen as a split in the Forum, but sources consulted speak that it is a totally separate game and in the opposition they see it as a strategy to divide and subtract votes from the line of Independent Forum. The sector linked to the force led by Luis Rueda will contain lawyers without party affiliation and, they say, even people close to the PJ, so it will be seen in time and in the development of the campaign how competition escalates.
According to the calendar, the election in the institution will be held on February 22 to renew the position of vice president left by Sergio Saffe, who was appointed in November as a civil servant and was replaced, on an interim basis, by Rubén Lloveras. It is not the only thing, since three of the five positions of members of the Board of Directors are also at stake, that is, the majority to make decisions. On those candidacies, the spaces were finishing sealing the figures.
The Forum handles its share of power, since its authorities have direct contact with the Court of Justice to agree on issues related to the administration of Justice and can raise questions with the Executive and other institutions.
Saffe’s victory in 2018 marked the first of a string of triumphs for the Peronist group, whose benchmark is Gastón Noguera. Among them are the two places for lawyers Aníbal Samper and Laura Pelayes in the strategic Council of the Magistracy (the body that makes up the shortlist of judges, prosecutors and defenders) and the position of the current president, Gustavo Giacagli. In the justice sector, the one who is now on the way to being the vice candidate is Kirby (see protagonists), sources said.
In the new space related to bloquism, Acosta Zapata himself acknowledged that he had the support of the group to top the list. For its part, the Foro Independiente group, which knew how to dominate the institution, is undergoing a renovation after setbacks against Peronism. It is a sector whose representatives have had criticism towards the Court and the provincial government and who have sought allies in lawyers from Together for Change (ex Cambiemos) to regain weight, so in these hours it will come to light who will be their exponents.
The elections in the Forum are in August, but they were postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic and the mandates were extended until March 31. However, after the election and the assumptions, said extensions will cease.
For the Jury
On February 22, the election of the two lawyers who will make up the Jury of Prosecution (the body in charge of the removal of magistrates) will also take place, although the presentation of lists is until the 2nd of that month. The Forum also puts into play three positions of members for the Disciplinary Court.
Voters
1.169 They were the lawyers who voted in the last election, in which they chose President Gustavo Giaccagli. The Peronist group got 513 votes.
